How to Solve the Noisy Problem of Kalimba
Mar 02, 2019

The kalimba, an African musical instrument with distinctive national characteristics, is made by thumbing the thin pieces of the body (mainly made of wood and bamboo, and also made of metal in modern development).

So, why is it that a simple kalimba, a thumb harp instrument has this noise?

Generally speaking, there are several reasons for the noise of the kalimba:

1,Rrepeated friction between the kalimba keys and the stainless steel kalimba pillow, resulting in the pillow incomplete.

2. The metal fatigue of karimba keys (shrapnel) directly leads to the weakening of elasticity, which is inseparable from the raw materials.

3. A small number of manufacturers have low raw materials, and inferior fixed piano stands are used in the production process.

4. When the products leaves the factory, some QC do not carry out strict inspection and debugging (quality control problems).

For the above reasons, there are two methods to solve:

1. Solve the noise by slightly moving the keys to the left or right, or trying to move forward and push the keys, grinding them into the bridge as they move.

2. Put a piece of paper (this method is only temporary) at the junction of the keys and the pillow. Cut a piece of ordinary office paper or a4 paper into strips of about 0.3cm x 0.3cm (the thinner the better).

Lift the key up and slide the slip between the key and the pillow. Lay down the keys until it clamps the paper, then tear off the excess.

If above method, still haven’t solve the problem,Then it is suggested to buy a set of kalimba metal shrapnel, picking pieces and piano keys and change again, then everything will be fine. But,if you choose our products, you will hardly worried about those problems.
